FIRST VICE | GEORGE CHRISTENSEN

Greetings Comrades!

My name is George Christensen and in December I accepted the position of 1st Vice Commander of Post 149, it is my personal privilege to serve the Post.  I transferred from Post 146 in Oceanside to Post 149; after moving to San Marcos.  I am a Past Commander of Post 146, and a Past President of the American Legion Riders Chapter 146. The First Vice Commander’s Responsibilities:

  • Membership Engagement: Recruiting new members and ensuring current members feel welcomed and involved.
  • Supporting the Commander: Stepping in when the Commander is unavailable and providing crucial leadership support.

Recruiting will be my primary concern as First Vice, but I am not limiting my effort to just recruiting new members to the Legion and Post, but also a reinvigoration or our current membership to ensure memberships are renewed, and more importantly to provide opportunities to members to participate in Post activities, and community service.

To accomplish this the post needs your aid.  I will be working with our Commander to start a “Buddy Check” campaign, I have the materials from National on how to get started.

Our theme is every member brings in a member.  Every member who knows a member who we haven’t seen or heard of for a while invites that member to a general meeting, or something as simple as joining for a Post breakfast to share some camaraderie
