POST 149 ADJUTANT | CODY YORK

Hello Legionnaires,

As we head into February, there are plenty of exciting activities and important updates happening at the post. Please take a moment to read through this information and consider how you can get involved.

Membership Renewals

We’re now a month into the new year, and approximately 125 members still need to renew their membership. Letters have been sent to those who are at large, but we encourage you to renew as soon as possible. You can renew by mail or by visiting the post and speaking with the Adjutant.

Let’s also get into the habit of monthly “buddy checks.” Reach out to fellow members, check in on how they’re doing, and offer support. Some members may be facing health challenges, family struggles, or difficulty visiting the post. As a family of veterans, it’s important that we look after our brothers and sisters in arms.

New Memberships

Our new membership numbers are down, and we need your help! If you meet a young veteran, take a moment to introduce them to the American Legion. Share what we’re about and invite them to visit the post—let them know the first beer is on us for potential members!

Fundraising Committee

We are actively seeking members for a new fundraising committee. This team will brainstorm ideas for fundraisers, organize opportunity drawings, and put plans into action. Once established, we’d like to hold monthly opportunity drawings to support our post.

February Dinner

Our February dinner will take place on Saturday, February 15th at 5:00 PM. We’re serving an all-you-can-eat soup bar featuring:

  • Clam Chowder
  • Split Pea Soup
  • Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup
  • Green Chile Chicken Soup

The cost is $16 and includes soup, salad, and bread or rolls. Don’t miss this delicious event!

Breakfast Volunteers Needed

Last month, we had to cancel our breakfast due to a lack of volunteers. Breakfast is not only a great community event, but it also generates important revenue for both the post and the clubroom.

We need your help! If you’re able to volunteer, please contact the Adjutant. Once we have enough volunteers confirmed, we’ll notify everyone about resuming breakfasts.

For February, the Brothers of 6 Breakfast will take place on Sunday, February 16th.

Super Bowl Sunday Party

Get ready for an exciting Super Bowl Sunday Party on February 9th at the post! This year’s party will feature:

  • Opportunity drawings, including a chance to win a 75” Smart TV. Tickets are available in the clubroom—ask the bartender.
  • Potluck dinner: The Sons will be deep-frying two turkeys and serving smoked brisket.

If you’d like to contribute to the potluck, please sign up. If you’re not bringing a dish, we kindly ask for a $10 donation.

Super Bowl parties at the post have always been a fantastic time, so don’t miss out!

Thank you for your continued support and dedication to the post. Let’s make February a great month for all Legionnaires.
